Josh Daniel, a hopeful on X Factor, nearly chose a different song for his audition, and he might go down in history as the act that brought Simon Cowell to tears.
Having a Conversation with the Mirror Joshβs buddy Kerrianne Covell, who advanced to the ITV seriesβ judgesβ houses in 2014, disclosed that he had his eye on a different song but decided to sing Labrinthβs Jealous after seeing it performed for her and pal Liv Quantrill.
Josh was supposed to sing Nathan Sykesβ βKiss Me Quick,β Kerrianne recalls.
βI donβt think thatβs the song,β Liv said to us in the dancing studio. Which other songs would you recommend?
βI believe jealousy was about his fourth option.β He was careful not to sound too similar to Labrinth.
But the two were able to convince him otherwise after witnessing a performance in which he sang while kneeling on the ground.
βThereβs no doubt about it,β I stated. It has to be the one, Kerrianne said, if you can move peopleβs hearts the way you did when you were just kneeling on the ground.
βHe called to ask if he could change his song,β a few days before his audition.
Josh dedicated the song to his friend Tom Woolley, who passed away in 2013 at the age of just 18, as he disclosed on Sunday nightβs broadcast.
Watchers witnessed Simon, whose mother Julie Brett passed away just before the auditions started, becoming agitated during the performance. Later, he was taken away on a golf cart, leaving Nick Grimshaw and Cheryl F-V unsure of what to do.
